LEARNING THE ART OF COURT-ORDERED SUPERVISED VISITATION

This seminar (APA and BBSE approved) is designed to provide participants with an overview of Court Ordered Supervised Visitation in custody cases and other court mandated family disputes. The course will present definitions of relevant legal terms, required supervisory qualifications, risk assessment procedures, safety concerns for supervisors, terms and conditions required for administrating each visit, safety conditions for sexual abuse cases, emergency protocols, as well as case recording.
The course will also cover other pertinent issues such as culture, ethnicity, language, sexuality, and other contextual variables influencing family dynamics, the quality of the visits and outcome of the process. The role of the court ordered supervised visitation in custody evaluation and its effect will also be explored. Course material will include forms to assist participants in understanding the concepts presented.

Objectives:
- Acquire an understanding of guidelines issued by Judicial Administration Standards 26 and 2007 California Rules of Court Standard 5 for providers of court ordered supervised visitations.
- Familiarize participants with interventions directed by the court for protection of the minors in cases involving divorce, domestic violence, sexual abuse and neglect of minors and other pertinent matters involving families.
- Identify and appropriately address the multi-cultural issues and their influence on conducting and reporting the outcome of each visit to the court.
- Acquire knowledge of clinical and ethical issues which can assist the court in identifying the nature of the discord in order to remedy the conflict.
